This afternoon I saw a 41 year old professional gentleman 6 weeks after his LSA for Hyperhidrosis.
Since his operation he has had no problems at all from underarm sweating.
He went on a long distance flight over Christmas which he says usually causes him to have severe under-arm sweating - however after the LSA he had none whatsoever.
On sweat testing today his measured sweat reductions were:
Right armpit - 78% reduction of sweat volume
Left armpit - 72% reduction of sweat volume
He has said he will write up his experiences but in the meantime said "It is the best money that I have ever spent". The picture is a photo of the same gentleman when he attended for his first assessment before his LSA.

ReplyDeleteHi Steve,
ReplyDeleteI have just presented the results in Paris and am writing up my results for publication at the moment.
A lot of the information is already in this blog and the previous one http://markwhiteley.blogspot.com.
Besically the first 2 patients had poor results with skin breakdown that took a few weeks to heal. The first patient had good loss of sweating - the second has not come back to be tested again.
From the third patient onwards we completely changed the technique - now we have about an 80% reduction of sweating on average - most people don't notice they sweat at all afterwards or only have a tiny bit in very hot or stessful situations. One lady says she still has some sweaating that has come back but she has not come back for tests yet.
We have had 3 more skin breakdowns out of 36 armpits - and these have not been very major.
Basically it is not perfect in everyone, is a new procedure - but we have over a 90% patient satisfaction and 80% sweat reductionn
